You
can create and control even more than the graceful ambiance
of sophisticated tent events - you can assure the comfort
of your guests!
There's nothing worse than wearing your finest attire only
to be too hot or too cold at a wedding or event. But that
doesn't mean you lose the option to have your event in a
tent - no matter where you live or what the season of the
year. Create the ambiance of your fantasy with a tent and
accessories - and make your guests comfortable with rented
heating and cooling units. Visit your event and party rental
store to discover the options in your area.
Warm Them Up
Indirect-Fired Tent Heaters
Basically, there are two types of tent heaters: direct-fired
and indirect fired. Indirect-fired units are preferred because
they eliminate combustion, which can cause dizziness, burning
eyes and nausea.
Another option for larger tents is a sophisticated air-circulation
system. Consult your event and party rental professional
to discuss your need for this type of unit.
Indirect-fired tent heater features:
Heat exchanger allows fumes and combustible products
to vent away from the heated area
Open-flame barrier
Power source: propane, natural gas or diesel
Optional connectable ducts: allows heater unit to
be placed away from tent
Optional remote thermostat: allows discretionary
temperature settings
A Safe Direct-Fired Option
Many rental houses offer 7-foot-tall patio heaters featuring
aluminum umbrellas that reflect heat down toward party guests.
Patio heaters work best in chilly (around 50 degrees),
but not cold, temperatures
These units throw heat between 12 and 15 feet in
all directions
Rule of thumb: Use one patio heater for every three
or four tables
These heaters are great for decks and patios, too

Cool
Them Off
When your challenge is to beat the heat, you have two cooling
options - air conditioning units and evaporative cooling systems.
Tent Air-Conditioners
Moisture remover: this is especially preferred in areas
of the country that experience high humidity
Capability: refrigerant cools room temperatures by
30 to 40 degrees
Rule of thumb for cooling tents: 1 ton of cooling (12,000
Btu) for every 150 to 25 square feet of tent space
Factors to consider in addition to square footage of
area to be cooled: where the tent will be positioned, the
date, time and type of party.*
*For example, if a tent is going to be positioned on an asphalt
parking lot sandwiched between two buildings in the heat of
the day in August, you would need more cooling units than
if the tent is placed on a grassy, open field for an evening
event in May. Also, a sit-down party requires less cooling
than a standup or open-house event where the tent flaps normally
are left open.
Evaporative Cooling Systems
Blower: blows out a cool mist that hits hot skin and
immediately evaporates
Typically throws out more air than an air-conditioning
unit and at a greater distance of 60 to 80 feet. Therefore,
are very inexpensive to run because fewer units are needed
to cool a room
Capability: at best, can lower temperatures by 10 to
15 degrees
